SPIKE (William the bloody)

William has two nicknames:William the bloody because the poetry
he wrote while he was alive was "bloody awful"; and Spike
because people would rather be killed by a railway spike
than listen to the poetry. Later on, he liked to torture his
victims with railway spikes.
Spike was born in England about 130 years ago. He was sired by
the crazy vampiress Drusilla, and became a member of Angel's
clan. It was from Angel that Spike learned about the Slayer.
He made the Slayer his one goal in life (uh, the unlife?).
Find a Slayer, and kill her. He managed to do this twice: once
during the Boxer Rebellion in China, the other on a subway in
New York in the 70's. After he spent some time in Europe but
when Dru was almost killed by a mob in Prague, he traveled to
the Hellmouth, or Sunnyhell as he likes to call it, to make
her better. There he continued his obsession with the Slayer,
this time the Slayer being Buffy.
Eventually Dru left him, and Spike became a lousy old mop,
hooking up with a newbie vamp to find the Gem of Amarra, the
Holy Grail of vampires. He found it, but soon later lost it.
Not long after he was captured by The Initiative. They placed
a chip in his head so that he could no longer hurt, kill or
maim a human. Hostile 17 was neutered.
Well, not being able to even slap a human caused Spike to go
to the Scoobies for help. He ended up staying at Giles' place,
and later on, at Xander's. The gang got to know him, and even
to like him a bit (but only a very little bit). Spike soon
discovered that he could hit anything that wasn't human, and
so began helping fight the Hellmouth's baddies. His obsession
with the Slayer became more than just killing- he actually
developed feelings for Buffy.
He was devastated when Buffy died, but even happier when she
came back to life (yes, Spike got some). But then Buffy told
him that their "relationship" could never work out, and Spike
left Sunnydale to get his chip removed. Instead, he got a soul.

Season 7, the final season for the series, proved to be interesting for
our favorite bleached blonde vamp. In the first episodes his new soul,
along with previous experiences with Buffy, served to shatter his mind
. It was a tough ride for him to earn his redemption, and the trust of
his Slayer. It seemed at first that his past hurt, compounded with his
fragile psyche and manipulations of the First Evil, would turn him into
the Big Bad once again. However, in the end he proved his worth as a
valued member of their gang. He paid the ultimate price; he paid with
his life. He will forever be remembered in our hearts as a hero.
